Consultation workshop on the National Action plan Nap for the UN Decade of Family Farming conducted in Dodoma

On July 29, 2025, SHIWAKUTA organized an important Workshop regarding the Consultation Workshop on the National Action Plan (NAP) for the UN Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF 2019–2028), as a crucial step in promoting sustainable family farming in Tanzania.
The event, held in Dodoma, brought together 52 participants, including representatives from farmers’ organizations, government ministries, academia, civil society, and development partners, all united in refining the draft NAP to reflect the voices and priorities of smallholder producers.
The workshop was opened by the Guest of Honor, Eng. Emmanuel Nyanda, Director of Economics from the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI).
Although Tanzania joined the UNDFF implementation journey later than many countries, the energy and commitment reaffirmed that it’s not too late to make meaningful progress. Stakeholders expressed their resolve to use the remaining years of the UNDFF to champion family farming, strengthen policies, and ensure that small-scale producers are at the center of rural development efforts.
This milestone marks a renewed beginning. SHIWAKUTA celebrates the inclusive and constructive spirit of the workshop and stands ready to work closely with all partners to ensure the finalized NAP becomes a powerful tool for transformation.
Additionally, workshop participants engaged in various discussions aimed at sharing their views on key issues related to the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and the promotion of sustainable family farming across Tanzania.
Together, we are building a future where family farmers thrive and lead
