Mtandao wa vikundi vya Wakulima na Wafugaji Mkoa wa Manyara (MVIWAMA).
MVIWAMA was founded in 2006 as a farmers group network in Manyara region with the mission to bring together and empower smallholder farmers to advocate for changes in the economic, social, and cultural interests of smallholder farmers in Manyara region.
The membership of MVIWAMA is drawn from smallholder farmers’ groups who organize themselves into local networks. The main productions of MVIWAMA members are: Maize, beans, wheat, pigeon peas, sunflower, rice, livestock, and beekeeping.
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI MKOA WA ARUSHA (MVIWAARUSHA)
MVIWAARUSHA was born out of a District Network of farmers’ groups in Monduli District, MVIWAMO, which was established in 2001 and registered in 2003. MVIWAAARUSHA, as a regional farmers’ network, was established in 2011 and registered in 2013 with 11,900 members.
Its main purpose is to improve communication among farmers’ groups, enhance the participation of small-scale farmers in planning, implementation, or supervision of social, economic, and political processes, and create a space for farmers to air their voices. Additionally, the network seeks to create a platform for farmers to express their views and advocate for their needs.
MVIWAARUSHA’s key areas of production include coffee, maize, wheat, beans, rice, livestock keeping, bananas, horticulture (vegetables and fruits), and beekeeping
KAGERA WOMEN ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY (KAWESO).
KAWESO was established by women and registered in 2024. Its main goals are to ensure the environmental and natural resources in Kagera region are sustainably managed and it benefit all people equally, as well as the promotion of good governance towards the rights of marginalized community groups such as fishers, small-scale farmers, pastoralists, children, and widows.
Economic activities done by members are the production of coffee, banana, cassava, livestock, forest and beekeeping, horticulture (vegetables and fruits), maize, and beans.
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI MKOA WA KILIMANJARO (MVIWAKI)
MVIWAKI was established in 2006 and officially registered in 2015 under the Societies Ordinance Act of 1954 and is a regional-based farmers’ network with 4015 members, among them 1606 females and 2409 males from 220 farmers’ groups.
The main purpose of MVIWAKI is to unite and improve communication amongst smallholder farmers (peasants and pastoralists) to defend their social, political, and economic interests.
Among the main crops produced by members are: Coffee, maize, beans, rice, livestock keeping, and banana, horticulture (vegetables and fruits).
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA MKOA WA KAGERA (MVIWATA KAGERA)

Currently, MVIWATA Kagera has a membership of about 4,250 small-scale farmers belonging to 147 farmer groups. The main crops produced are: coffee, banana, cassava, livestock, fisheries, forest and beekeeping, horticulture (vegetables and fruits), maize, and beans.
UMOJA WA WAKULIMA WA UMWAGILIAJI NDANDA.(UWWUN)
The organization was formed by smallholder farmers, users of the Ndanda Irrigation Scheme based in Masasi district, Mtwara region. It was registered in 2010 under the Society Ordinance Act with registration number S.A. 16783 and has a total of 325 members, among them 225 males and 100 females. The main purpose of establishing the Associations is to unite smallholder farmers to have a common voice in defense of economic, social, cultural, and political interests and rights of smallholder farmers.
Most of its members are rice and vegetable producers. The main productions of the Members are Rice, pigeon peas, maize, cashews, cassava, and sweet potatoes.
TANZANIA GRAPE GROWERS ASSOCIATION (TAGGA)
TAGGA is made up of six cooperatives of smallholder grape growers in Dodoma region, have a total of 2,780 members. It was established and registered in 2014. The main organizational objective is to unite grape growers in Dodoma region, so that they can defend their socio-economic rights and interests. • Apart from grapes, members are dealing with the production of millet, maize, ground nuts, cow peas, green gram, sesame, and sunflower.
JUMUIYA YA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI WADOGO RUVUMA (JUWAWARU)
JUWAWARU was established and registered in 2020. The organization aimed to unite smallholder farmers and livestock keepers in Ruvuma region to defend their socio-economic rights.
JUWAWARU has a total number of 598 members (397women and 201 men) from 37 farmers’ groups. The main production of Members are: maize, rice, coffee, beans, forests, sweet potatoes, cashew, livestock, and beekeeping.
CHAMA CHA WAZALISHAJI WA NAFAKA KONGWA (CHAWANAKO).
CHAWANAKO brings together cereal producers in a prominent agricultural area in Dodoma region. It was established in 2010 and registered in 2012. With a total of 3225 members, CHAWANAKO is focused on ensuring that members have access to quality input services to increase productivity. Main crops produced are: maize, millet, pigeon peas, sesame, and sunflower. The association has been actively exploring the markets for its members’ products..
UMOJA WA WAKULIMA WA UMWAGILIAJI MKUNGU.
Founded in 2009 by smallholder farmers, users of Mkungu Irrigation Scheme in Mkungu ward, Masasi district. It is made up of a total of 264 members, among them 67 women and 197 men. It was registered in the Ministry of Home Affairs since 2010 under the Society Ordinance Act.
The main production of members are: Rice, pigeon peas, maize, cashews, cow peas, green gram, cassava, and sweet potatoes.
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI MKOA DODOMA:
It is a network of farmers’ groups in Dodoma region comprising members from all districts in Dodoma region. MVIWADO was founded in 2019 and successfully registered in 2022.
Currently, MVIWADO has a number of members, 1396. The main goal is to promote ecological farming, facilitate communication among members and different stakeholders, as well as to enable members to know and protect their social and economic rights. Members are dealing with production of maize, millet, pigeon peas, sesame, sunflower, and livestock keeping.
UHURU COFFEE GROUP:
Established in 2005 with 22 coffee growers in Isansa village in Mbozi district, Songwe region, and officially registered in 2009. The organization has a total of 254 members, among them 179 are men and 75 are women. The organization’s goal is to unite smallholder farmers, coffee producers in particular, to defend their interests and address the challenges of members with one voice.
Apart from coffee, other crops are: maize, beans, Irish and Sweet potatoes, and horticulture (vegetables and fruits).
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI MKOA WA MOROGORO (MVIWAMORO).
With a total of 5,620 members among them 3012 women and 2608 men, MVIWAMORO brings together farmers and pastoralists through their groups in all seven districts of Morogoro region. MVIWAMORO was established and started its operation in Morogoro region in June 2004 and officially registered in 2006 in the Ministry of Community Development before re-registered in the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Societies Ordinance Act of 1954 with registration number S.A 21835 in 2021.
Its main objective is to bring together farmers and pastoralists and to enable them to build collective efforts in defending their social and economic interests.
The main productions are: Rice, maize, spices, livestock keeping, cassava, sweet and Irish potatoes, and horticulture (vegetables and fruits).
MUUNGANO WA VIKUNDI TARAFA YA BWEMBWERA (MUVITABWE);
Located in Muheza district in Tanga region, MUVITABWE brings together farmers of cereals, fruits, vegetables, and others engaged in organic spice farming. Registered in 2011, has a total of 2965 members.
The main objectives are to exchange knowledge and experience, opportunities to communicate with various development partners, to secure reliable markets, and to have a consultative forum with policymakers.
The main crops are: maize, beans, spices, beekeeping and forest, sunflower, and horticulture (vegetables and fruits).
JUMUIYA YA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI WADOGO MKOA WA TABORA (JUWAWATA).
Established by the farmers and pastoralists of Tabora region in 2020 and officially registered in 2022. With a total of 4989 members. The main purpose of JUWAWATA is to be an advocacy forum for farmers and pastoralists in Tabora region, as well as a link between its members and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
The main crops produced by members are: rice, millet, cassava, sweet potatoes, livestock, and beekeeping.
UMOJA WA WALIOJENGA VIOSKI SOKO LA MOROGORO (UWAVISONAMO).
UWAVISONAMO was formed by entrepreneurial farmers in Morogoro district, and established in 2020 and registered in January 2022, the organization has a total of 412 members, mostly women farmers. The main objective, apart from entrepreneurship, is to ensure that farmers have access to reliable markets for their products and to defend their interests against any threat of exploitation.
CHAMA CHA WAVUVI WADOGO WADOGO MINAZIMIKINDA (CHAWAWAMI).
CHAWAWAMI is the only organization among SHIWAKUTA members formed by fisheries. It was established in 2008 and registered in 2009. Currently, it has a total of 3251 members, mostly small-scale fishermen. The main objectives of its establishment are to bring together small-scale fishers to secure reliable markets for their produce and to have a common voice in defending their rights.
TUUNGANE RICE PRODUCERS:
Founded in 2010 and registered in 2012, the organization is made up of farmers served by the Mkungu Irrigation Scheme in Masasi district. TUUNGANE aims to improve the food security and incomes of small-scale rice farmers. The main production of members is Rice.
SONGAMBELE DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY (SODESO).
SODESO, located in Kigoma region, was established in 2001 to sensitize smallholder farmers to unite so that they can have the opportunity to communicate with other stakeholders to encounter challenges faced in the agricultural value chain. The association promotes palm oil farming with the aim being to contributing to making Tanzania self-sufficient in edible oil. Apart from the promotion of palm oil farming, members are also, maize, millet, bean, and fisheries.
JUMUIYA YA MAENDELEO YA WAKULIMA, WAFUGAJI NA WAVUVI MKOA WA KATAVI (JUWAWAKA).
JUWAWAKA was established in 2021. The aim is to unite smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and fisheries in Katavi region and Lobbying and advocacy for the interest of its members is the paramount goal of JUWAWAKA. The main activities and crops produced by members are: maize, beans, pigeon peas, cow peas, ground nuts, rice, green gram, livestock, and beekeeping.
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA, WAFUGAJI NA WAVUVI MKOA WA MARA (MVIWAMARA).
MVIWAMARA was formed in 2020, aim is to becoming an advocacy platform for family farmers in Mara region. It is the regional farmers’ network uniting members dealing with the production of maize, millet, finger millet, coffee, banana, rice, cassava, and sweet potatoes.
MUUNGANO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI MKOA SINGIDA (MUVIWASI)
Applied for SHIWAKUTA membership since January 2023, MUVIWASI is still on progress to be registered by the authorities. MUVUWASI is formed by groups of farmers dealing with the production of maize, millet, bulrush millet, ground nuts, sunflower, sesame, beekeeping, and livestock keeping.
JUMUIYA YA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI WADOGO MKOA WA SONGWE (JUWAWASO)
JUWAWASO was formed by farmers’ groups in Songwe region, comprising its members from all districts in the region. With 72 farmer groups serving 978 individual farmers, JUWAWASO aims to become a strong farmers’ organization in Songwe region. The main production of members are Coffee, beans, maize, Irish and sweet potatoes, as well as dealing with livestock keeping
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA, WAFUGAJI NA RUKWA
Established by the farmers, pastoralists, and fisheries in 2021, MVIWARU focuses on being a regional platform for smallholder producers in Rukwa region. MVIWARU is still waiting to become a full member until it will be registered by the relevant authorities. WAVUVI MKOA WA RUKWA (MVIWARU).
JUMUIYA YA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI MKOA WA MBEYA (JUWAMBE)
Established in 2018, JUWAMBE is still in progress to be registered by the authorities. The association aims to unite small-scale farmers and livestock keepers in Mbeya region. JUWAMBE applies for SHIWAKUTA membership to be part of the national farmers’ federation in advancing the agenda of its members at the national level. The majority of its members produce various crops, including maize, rice, beans, sunflower, coffee, and banana. Horticulture is an important sector among its members.
MTANDAO WA VIKUNDI VYA WAKULIMA NA WAFUGAJI MKOA WA NJOMBE (MVIWANJOMBE).
Formed in 2022 with farmers from two districts, Njombe and Ludewa, MVIWANJOMBE aims to unite more farmers in Njombe region to have a common voice in defending the socio-economic interests.
